Dunas Comporta - Starter House

As the last port of call before players set out on the new 18-hole golf course at Dunas Comporta, Starter House is both a way-station and a retreat from the Alentejan sun. Made entirely of wood, the single-storied construction connects a shop of golfing essentials and a restaurant which opens onto a patio boasting breathtaking views of the course. In keeping with the surrounding landscape, the interior design foregrounds the languid lines and texture of the wood overhead and underfoot. A tiled bar acts as a focal point, a last indulgence before stepping out into the sun. In both a side office and the lounge, the curves of the bespoke upholstery are in dialogue with the natural contours of the links beyond the windows.
